Upgraded Melvin

August 19th, 2011

We have made some improvements to the Melvin, our single speed chain tensioner. The pulleys are now aluminum for greater durability, and sealed bearings reduce drag and provide lateral float for a closer alignment with the cog. The geometry of the arm has also been modified to make it easier to remove the rear wheel.

Kurt the Shop Cat

July 9th, 2011

Some sad news: our shop cat Kurt has passed away. She adopted us when our shop was across the street from the Butte County Humane Society, where she was living. Her original name was Priscilla, but machine operator, Bill, renamed her Kurt Rambis because of a faint resemblance to the Lakers player. She came with us when we moved to our new shop four years ago. She was a very sweet, docile, and greasy kitty who spent most of the day sleeping. She was an all together wonderful presence in the shop and she will be missed.

Still Made in USA

October 22nd, 2010

Paul Components always have been and always will be made in the USA. Here's a brief description in Paul's own words of what we do here:

From hardcore cyclocross brakes to softcore racks for commuters, Paul Component Engineering continues to innovate. Our goal is to design and produce smart bicycle products that fill a distinct need.

I ride almost daily in any weather and on any and all types of surfaces, choosing from a fleet of bikes of all genres. Yes, I really do ride. It's the only way to find out if our products really deliver, and it's where I get the inspiration for new parts.

Here at our plant in Chico, California we're committed to precision manufacturing. Using state of the art machine tools and quality control processes, our team of manufacturing engineers and technicians strives to simply make our customers' rides better. It's a lot of work but we think it's worth it. Our customers seem to also!

Introducing the Racer Medium

New Racer Medium Brake
March 25th, 2010

Following on the heels of the successful Racer brake is the leaner, meaner, racier Racer Medium.
