HIGH FLANGE FRONT & REAR HUBS

INSTALLING THE HIGH FLANGE HUBS
Please read carefully:
DO NOT USE FIXED GEARS WITHOUT LOCKRINGS
DO NOT USE FIXED GEAR ON THREADED PORTION THAT DOES NOT HAVE LOCKRING THREADS

  1. Lace the wheel. This is best done by an experienced bike mechanic. Do not radial lace the spokes.

  2. The hub will come with a slight preload.
This keeps everything lined up and spinning smoothly. With time and miles, the bearings will break in, as all bearings do. This will remove bearing preload, and may cause play in the wheel. To readjust the hub, go to #3, however do not touch the adjustment until you feel noticeable play in the wheel. Too much preload will prematurely wear out the bearings. Remember, BEARINGS ARE NOT COVERED BY OUR WARRANTY.

  3. The hub can be adjusted using a 19mm or
3/4 inch open end wrench or Hubbuddy.

  4. Now, take the wrench, and with the wheel mounted in the frame, turn the adjusting ring (the part with 2 flats next to the hub shell) 1/10 of a turn. The adjusting ring is self locking, so don’t use its resistance to turning as an indicator for bearing preload. Instead, pick up the bike and spin the wheel. It should spin with little resistance, yet have just the slightest detectable side to side play. Check this by holding the seat with one hand, and wiggling the tire with the other.

  5. Place a little grease or anti-seize on the threads and install fixed gear, lockring, and or freewheel. MAKE SURE LOCKRING IS TIGHT. After your first ride the fixed gear will have seated into the hub. This will loosen the lockring. RETIGHTEN THE LOCKRING AFTER YOUR FIRST RIDE

IMPORTANT: Keep anti-seize on the threads of the special stainless 8mm hub securing bolts. This will ensure easy removal from frame.
