Thru-Axle Quick Release

Length is determined by your frame or fork, not your hub width. Before you order your Set N’ Forget, you will need to measure two things: skewer length and threading. Our growing Frame/Fork Database lists the most common sizes, but it’s best to double-check the measurement. The instructions for the skewer length are in the video. The sizing chart is in the Technical Information. The instructions for the threading are beneath the Product Story. This is easier than it sounds, all you need is a tape measure and 5 minutes of time! If you’d like a Set-N-Forget in Purple or Blue, email: sales@paulcomp.com

Product Story

The Set N’ Forget was born out of a need for a high-quality, reliable, simple, and effective thru-axle quick-release. What makes our creation different from all the others is that the handle on the Set N’ Forget is index-able. Once you set the position the first time, the lever will always close in just the position you desire. Setting it is easily done by pushing down on the head and rotating the lever into one of 12 radial positions. Once released the head is now locked in that position. Forget it! (Watch the video to see it in action)

These thru-axles come in 9 different lengths, two different diameters, and two different thread pitches. Don’t worry: It’s easy to measure and order the correct model for your bike all by yourself! Just measure your frame or fork from the outside of one dropout to the outside of the other dropout and look on our pull-down menu to find the corresponding size.

How to measure your threading: All Front 15mm Set N’ Forget skewer rods are 1.5 thread pitch.

To determine whether your rear 12mm skewer is 1.5 or 1.0 threading, hold it up to the threads of your front skewer and compare. If the threads line up with each other, it’s 1.5. If there are many more threads on your rear skewer in the same amount of length, it’s 1.0.

Consult your frame or fork manufacturer if you are still unable to determine the right fitment on your own.

Some frame and forks may not be threaded, but rely on an independent nut which threads onto the end of the thru-axle. We make those too! (See them below in the “Related Products”). If your thru-axle uses a nut, add about 15mm to the skewer length. (The Surly Ice Cream truck uses a 15 x 171 x 1.5 front skewer, and a 12 x 227 x 1.5 rear skewer.)

Every time you close this quick release you’ll enjoy a feeling of security and satisfaction that you can shred as hard as you want, your wheel is NOT moving!

Instagram post 2198332326161147456_25667512 Usually we have a company bowling session around this time of the holidays but both the Chico and Paradise bowling alleys are closed so we went to @hatchethousechico for a different kind of “chucking-stuff-down-lanes” and sheesh was it fun! 🪓🍻 #WhatCouldGoWrong? #StressRelief #HappyHolidays!
Instagram post 2196778336361294595_25667512 ✨🎄✨Last Minute PAUL Holiday Gift Guide for the beloved bike nerd in your life: Swipe through 👉 and read the whole guide in one super long sentence. Ready? 🆗 We have argyle socks in two different heights but only in size small right now so screw those big footed people, maybe they’d be better off with some colorful spring adjuster nuts or moon units to jazz up their rim brakes OR a linen cycling cap made by @randijofab which we have in BOTH sizes but maybe it’s time to replace those moldy old water bottles with some nice new ones featuring @loomsville artwork but then again it’s handy to use a Gino to mount your light somewhere better than your handlebars or a stem-cap light mount puts it ABOVE a busy handlebar but maybe your loved one likes Limited Edition stuff like this 30th Anniversary shirt Patrick is wearing but that bottle opener is rad and has a 15mm and rotor-truing slot, but heck that pint glass is an easy one because everybody consumes liquids of one type or another but a fancy wool baseball hat would be perfect for this chilly weather but so would our Barbarian hoodie but maybe you can’t decide so that’s why we offer gift certificates! (Gasping for air) Happy holiday shopping, all products linked in the photos.✌️🎄

We’ll be using this lil’ box for 9 different products such as Dropper Triggers, Thumbies, and Chain Keepers. The first featured artist for this box is our dear friend @rjrabe ! This Speed Buggy cartoon inspired design actually features our own badass machinist Briana doing a big burnout while our marketing nerd Trevor holds on for dear life. We’re steadily working towards our ultimate goal to eliminate plastic and replace it all with recycled materials ASAP! ♻️
Instagram post 2191609022691896846_25667512 We already had quite a few requests for our Set N’ Forget Thru-Axle Skewer in a size to fit the latest @columbus_official forks, so when @allcitycycles started to spec these forks on bikes like their Nature Boy, Cosmic Stallion, and Macho King, we decided we’d better get on it.
