Product Story

We love the Barbarian T-shirt that Chico design legend and metal enthusiast Matt Loomis drew for us, and it’s quickly become a cult classic. Our Mini-Moto Hooded Sweatshirt has also been a favorite around the shop for years now. What if we put the Barbarian design on the same awesome ultra-cozy and tough hoodie?!

We’ve made these in a rustic dusty blue for years, and figured it was time for a run in black.

If you look closely the word “CHICO” is spelled out in blood dripping off the axe. Shhhh, it’ll be our little secret.

Warner is bending up some sweet quick-release hand Warner is bending up some sweet quick-release handles on #FixtureFriday. This is another one of those total one-off assembly fixtures we use almost every day. We machine this little tapered stainless steel rod to have threads on one end and a lobe and circlip groove on the other, then plug it into this fixture with the lobe clocked at just the right angle to put the handle at the right angle when you beeeeend it to 90 degrees with this fixture. It’s really satisfying when you get the angle just right on the first try.
Although we never really offered it to the public, Although we never really offered it to the public, whenever our manufacturing manager Jim wanted PAUL parts for his personal bike, he went with Pewter ano. It was kinda Jim’s signature color and always looked so good, we figured we should finally open it up to the public. So for a limited time, we’ll be offering this very NASA looking flat Pewter finish on our website or from your favorite bike shop. These parts will be anodized just for you, so please allow 7-14 days turnaround. If you don’t see the part you’re looking for listed in Pewter just call our friendly sales staff at (530)345-4371 ☎️ Cheers!

Should we bring back #FixtureFriday ? Before you c Should we bring back #FixtureFriday ? Before you can make all the parts, you have to make all the fixtures, and these aren’t something you can buy off a shelf! All of our production and assembly fixtures are one-offs made by Paul or Patrick or Jacob in the manual machine shop (although Jacob just made our first ever 3D printed fixtures, but that’s a story for a different Friday 😉).
This fixture is for pressing the little sealed cartridge-bearings into our Canti and Love levers. Once mounted in an arbor press, a little magnet holds the bearing until you press-fit it into the lever blade with a pull on the arbor press. In theory these bearings could be replaced down the line, but we haven’t had to do it yet. Thank you for attending our Ted Talk, happy Friday! ✌️
