  • What is Cable Pull?
    Short Pull ↓

Short pull brake levers have less leverage than long pull brake levers and pull a shorter amount of cable as they are actuated.

They are intended only for use with short pull brakes, such as side pull caliper brakes, cantilever brakes, centerpull brakes and mini-v brakes.

  • Clamp Size
    22.2mm ↓

22.2mm is equivalent to 7/8 inches, and is the diameter of most mountain bike handlebars. Many flat bars, risers and city bars have this diameter. It is measured at the end of the bar where grips and brake levers attach.

Product Story

We recommend these for use with our Racer, Neo-Retro,  Touring Canti, Mini-Moto or Short Pull Klamper brakes, but they work well paired with any road caliper brake, cantilever brake, or other short pull brake. For a long pull brake lever, see our Love Lever Compact or Love Lever 2.5.

These levers are machined by us here in Chico California to exacting specifications. The pivot features a dual sealed cartridge bearing for the smoothest, stiffest brake lever you will ever use. Like all our components, these will be serviceable for a lifetime.

A 5mm set screw in the side of the lever perch allows you to adjust the reach, setting the distance from the bar to the lever to fit your hands.

Barrel adjusters are included for fine-tuning your brakes, and their oversized design and smooth shape makes it easy to adjust them by hand, even wearing thick gloves.

Should we bring back #FixtureFriday ? Before you c Should we bring back #FixtureFriday ? Before you can make all the parts, you have to make all the fixtures, and these aren’t something you can buy off a shelf! All of our production and assembly fixtures are one-offs made by Paul or Patrick or Jacob in the manual machine shop (although Jacob just made our first ever 3D printed fixtures, but that’s a story for a different Friday 😉).
This fixture is for pressing the little sealed cartridge-bearings into our Canti and Love levers. Once mounted in an arbor press, a little magnet holds the bearing until you press-fit it into the lever blade with a pull on the arbor press. In theory these bearings could be replaced down the line, but we haven’t had to do it yet. Thank you for attending our Ted Talk, happy Friday! ✌️
