When it came to handlebars for the #SierraExplorer When it came to handlebars for the #SierraExplorerBike , Paul wanted to run the @jonesbikes H-Bar, so we dialed up Jeff Jones himself. Not only was Jeff stoked on the project, he also wanted to show us his exact method for wrapping the bars and which grips he likes and where to position the shifters and brake levers. So we sent him our Microshift Thumbie and some shiny Polished Canti Levers, and he made this nice little video of proper H-Bar setup. (We MIGHT have added a little music to it😉). Thanks Jeff, this is gonna be a very cozy setup for whoever wins the finished bike! Speaking of which, obviously @sierranevada won’t be displaying and giving away this bike as early as we had planned, what with this stinky Covid-19 🦠 making parties so dangerous. So for now, we’ll continue enticing you with these little process videos and photos until we are in a place to lay out an alternate plan, and we WILL be giving this bike to one of you weirdos and we expect you to TAKE IT BIKEPACKING! Here’s where our Klamper Disc Brakes get their ⚡️POWER⚡️. Oversized bearings ride in the CNC machined races of our heat-treated steel pistons. 🦾 We also use roller-bearings instead of plastic thrust washers because this brake is designed to last a lifetime with minimal service. Yes, we’re looking into ways we can adapt our machine shop for production of medical supplies (like ventilator components), but in the meantime the machines are shut down. Luckily we have a very healthy stockpile of components on the shelves and a safe method for shipping them. We’re still receiving your orders, and really appreciate your support, but please be patient as it may take a day or two longer for us to get your orders out under the current circumstances. Ordering through our website is the easiest and most efficient method to reach us and we’ll be extending the 10% discount to help take the edge off, just use coupon code “ridesafely” at checkout. This works for shop orders through our B2B as well! Our top priority right now is the safety of our employees and the community at large. So far there have been two reported cases of Covid-19 in Butte County and now is the time to follow CDC guidelines and flatten the curve. We’ll continue doing our best to provide you with the bike nerd content you love, and already have some fun ideas for some social distancing videos. Riding bikes is what helps us stay sane through times like these, and now’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors if you can do so safely. Any of you ever heard of Air Art? Russ Pickett is Any of you ever heard of Air Art? Russ Pickett is a LEGEND of bicycle painting! He painted all those sick Mountain Goat bikes back in the day, Retrotec, numerous National Champion frames, etc etc. He’s “officially retired” these days...BUT...somehow Tyler of @btchn.bikes talked him into painting the #SierraExplorerBike for us! This is a super complicated (pain is the ass) job of taping down topographic map 🗺 lines one at a time, then a subtle green fade front to back. Stay tuned for more updates on this bike we’re building for @sierranevada , there will be a text-to-win and it could be yours!
