Technical Information

  • Material
    6061 Aluminum
  • Weight
    56g
  • Finish
    Anodized
  • Anodized Color
    Black, Purple or Silver
  • Cable Pull
    Short Pull ↓

Short pull brake levers have less leverage than long pull brake levers and pull a shorter amount of cable as they are actuated.
They are intended only for use with short pull brakes, such as side pull caliper brakes, cantilever brakes, centerpull brakes and mini-v brakes.

  • Clamp Size
    22.2mm or 23.8mm ↓

22.2mm is equivalent to 7/8 inches, and is the diameter of most mountain bike handlebars. Many flat bars, risers and city bars have this diameter. It is measured at the end of the bar where grips and brake levers attach.

23.8mm is the diameter of most road handlebars. Drop bars, bull horns, and other handlebars designed for road bike will often have this diameter. It is measured in the "grip" area of the bar, not the larger diameter area where the stem attaches.

Product Story

There’s something to be said for the clean looks of bare track handlebars, but riding brakeless can be hazardous on the road. The E-Lever is a tiny brake lever that keeps your handlebars looking clean while providing that extra braking power when needed.

The E-Lever is available in either black or silver anodized, as well as polished. The polished version has a mirror finish and looks especially great on chromed drop bars or next to a polished quill stem.

Because of its compact design, the E-Lever has less leverage than our other brake levers. For this reason we cannot recommend it for use as the sole method of braking. The E-Lever should only be used in conjunction with other brake mechanisms such as a fixed gear hub or coaster brake. For a similar brake lever with greater leverage, take a look at our Cross Lever.

We make this lever in two clamp diameters to fit road and mountain handlebars. The 23.8mm version fits on the narrower grip section of road handlebars. The 22.2mm version fits standard mountain bike handlebars. There is an integrated barrel adjuster for quick adjustments.

We didn’t say the #CascadeCougar would be a “re-cr We didn’t say the #CascadeCougar would be a “re-creation” of Mr Paul’s old Salsa, we said it would be INSPIRED by it, and @blackcatbicycles was definitely inspired! This painstaking geometrically masked rainbow fade with chrome lettering was finished with a clearcoat and well, just WAIT until you see this thing dipped in polished parts! ✨🤩✨As for the last pic… we’ll take bad photoshop over A.I. any day of the week. 😂 Thanks for the photos @mybucketsgottaholeinit 📷
Our friends at @wolf_tooth_comp sweetened the pot Our friends at @wolf_tooth_comp sweetened the pot by sending over a pair of sweet Waveform pedals for the #CascadeCougar Oakridge Trails fundraiser project. These puppies come in two sizes, 9 different colors, and are 100% user serviceable. The question is… will we really have this bike built in time for the @made.bike show this weekend?!
It can be a little tricky building up a drop-bar b It can be a little tricky building up a drop-bar bike with super wide-range 1X mountain bike gearing using cable actuated disk brakes like our Klampers, but one solution is to throw a @ratiotechnology 12-speed adapter into a SRAM 11-speed “brifter”. Modrone was generous enough to send us this SICK Jab rear derailleur that’s configured specifically for the #CascadeCougar, with a barrel-adjuster and Ratio specific throw. These derailleurs are fully rebuildable, re-configurable, CNC machined, and feature adjustable linkage springs and clutches. Very badass, thanks @madronecycles!
Whew! Our friends at @astralcycling up in Eugene O Whew! Our friends at @astralcycling up in Eugene Oregon hand-laced us these beautiful silver Serpentine wheels for the #CascadeCougar. Both rims are offset for more even spoke tension, we’ve got those Cali-made @whiteind hubs, and some jazzy oil-slick decals🌈. Reminder: we’ll be raffling this bike off to raise money for @oakridgetrailsalliance , so all these top shelf components could end up in YOUR stable!😎

When it came time to pick a headset for the #Casca When it came time to pick a headset for the #CascadeCougar, you know we had to reach out to our friends at White Industries. Their engraved logos pair so well with our parts aesthetically, they’re machined in California, have a split crown-race for easy installation, and use recycled/able packaging. Man, this bike is gonna be DIPPED! 🤩
