Product Story

Important Installation instructions:

Grease the stem faceplate mounting screws, insert the handlebar, and tighten the bolts evenly (like car wheel lugnuts) using a torque wrench (we offer a good one specifically for this below if you need one) until reaching the recommended torque of 4 Newton Meters. Check that the gap between the faceplate and stem is even on the top and bottom of the stem. If it is not, loosen the screws completely and start over. While standing stationary over the bike, bounce your body weight on the handlebar to check that it won’t slip. Some carbon bars can be extra slippery: if you encounter slippage, resist the urge to overtighten the faceplate screws, and instead coat the handlebar where it is held by the stem with a liberal amount of friction paste and try again. Our faceplate has a HUGE amount of surface area, so your handlebars should NOT slip at 4nm. If you exceed the recommended torque, you could damage the handlebar, stem, or yourself. If you still encounter slippage or any other problems, resist the urge to tighten the faceplate screws further, and instead contact us via the phone number at the bottom of this page, or visit a qualified bike shop.
