Fixed Word

We saw a need for high quality 135mm Bolt-On and 142mm Thru-Axle fixed gear hubs, and with our long history and experience making single speed and fixed gear hubs, we knew how to do it right. These beauties are machined 100 percent in-house by us here in Chico, California. They’re absolutely bomb-proof, very light, easily adjustable, serviceable, and come with our own extra thick stainless steel lockring.

Product Story

We machine these hubs from 2-1/8″ round bars of aircraft grade 6061 American made aluminum. The hub shells are put through four different machining processes before they go to finishing, and the end result is something we’re very proud of. The flanges are canted towards the rim, and the spoke holes are chamfered to reduce stress on the head and elbow of the spoke.

The hub shell is available with dedicated fixed gear and lockring threading on one side, with or without a set of standard freewheel threads on the other side. Proper left-handed lockring threading keeps fixed gear cogs secure, and our heavy-duty stainless steel lockring is included.

The interchangeable axle goes all through way through the hub and is precision turned in-house from 7075 aluminum, which has a great strength to weight ratio, and is available in 135mm Bolt-On or 142mm Thru-Axle. No flexy, easy-to-lose caps here!

We use high-fill replaceable sealed bearings, and they can be easily adjusted with our simple adjuster ring.

Chico is a fun and easy city to bike commute in. I Chico is a fun and easy city to bike commute in. It’s totally flat, there are plenty of bike lanes and neighborhood routes with little to no traffic, it doesn’t take more than half an hour to get from the farthest edge to the opposite edge of town, and in our case here at PAUL World Headquarters, there’s even an old railway converted to a bike path leading right up to our back gate. 🚂🚴Congratulations to @myles56k on winning our Ride2Work Challenge for the last two years! He might have some competition from @jxrad this year though…should we start taking bets?
